Meta Box Builder UX/UI Update: Visually-Stunning Hierarchy, Quick Add, Quick Edit

We always notice the importance of experience with the interface when using the plugins to create and configure custom fields, so we pay a lot of attention and effort to improve that.

Showing Visually – Stunning Hierarchy

In this update, subfields display right on this interface without clicking on the group to open its settings. Based on this new way of displaying fields, you can see all the fields along with their subfields.

You definitely will have a clearer overview on all of them and their structure. We usually say that Meta Box can help to create nested groups with visually-stunning hierarchies. And now, it’s all too obvious right on this view.

In addition, we believe that it’s easier to drag and drop fields in or out of a group.

Toggle Button

We also provide an option to toggle the subfields or not.

With a button right on the header bar of each group, you can collapse or expand the group to hide or display the subfields.

Have a view with a lean structure or a full one? Just switch with a click. It’s easy!

Quickly Add Subfields

You can see there is an additional icon button in the new interface. This one also is totally new.

No matter whether the group is collapsed or expanded, you can click on this button to quickly add a new subfield.

It’s different from the previous way that you must expand the group first, scroll down to see the list of subfields, then click the ‘Add Subfield’ button. But now, it is more convenient and the new button shortens this journey for sure.

Quickly Edit the Label & ID

Finally, there is a new thing that is really significant that we cannot skip. We improved the plugin to allow quick editing of the labels and IDs of the fields.

Right on the header bar of each field, just click on the label or the ID, then you can lively edit them.

We know that you use the labels and IDs very often, so making them editable without opening the settings may help you save a lot of time.
